Engineering Enhancements for 8LV and 4LV+
As you may aware, our 8LV card was designed a few years ago, at that time, the PC system is not as advanced as what we have seen today. (The newer 4LV+, with tighter spec. may have less issue, but, like other PC add-in cards, dealing with faster timing is still a continuous effort)
Today, with new PC chip sets, it has pushed high-speed system bus to support high-performance CPU and faster DRAM. Further complex the problem is the introduction of newer Windows OS, it went from Win 2K to XP, to Server 2003 etc. Drivers of 8LV and 4LV+ have to match new provisions that have been incorporated.
In view of these needs, we, at CallURL, have worked on this issue for a while and are about to make enhancements to deal with problems known.
The problem has twofold:
Hardware problem is related to Mother Board chip-set and its BIOS;
Faster speed in FSB; CPU and DRAM
Driver problem is “compatibility” during installation to
support various Windows OS editions.
We have done the following –
Correct Hardware
Timing – Provide 8LV Rev. C; 4LV+ Rev. B
(That works with Intel 845, 865, 915
Chip-set MB, 533/800 MHz
FSB and P4 478/775
CPU)
(Basically, it should work with “Old” or “Newer” PCs.)
Since “Branded” PCs are also using the SAME spec. in design
and comes from MB manufactures like ASUS etc. We do test based on the number
ONE MB supplier - ASUS. Our test report has shown all cases are O.K. (We will
provide a CD to do the PCI access verification, if people has
doubt)
Correct Driver
Installation and Execution Issue -- Provide new
Installation CD that works for Windows XP Pro;
Windows 2000 Pro; Windows 2000 Server; Windows 2003 Server etc.
Tests have been conducted in R/D lab, please go over Test Summary below
